Tour Overview
A Short Sri Lanka Round Tour with Culture, Mountains, Wildlife and Coast
Sri Lanka is a small island, but every region offers a different feeling. This 4 day tour is designed for travelers who want to enjoy more than one side of Sri Lanka without planning a long holiday.
The journey begins from Ahungalla or nearby beach hotel areas and travels inland to Kandy, one of Sri Lanka’s most important cultural cities. Kandy is known for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kandy Lake, hill scenery and traditional Sri Lankan culture.
From Kandy, the tour continues through scenic highland roads towards Ella, a peaceful hill country village loved for waterfalls, Nine Arch Bridge, tea country views, mountain scenery and relaxed travel atmosphere.
After Ella, the route moves towards Yala, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous national parks. A safari in Yala gives you the chance to see elephants, deer, crocodiles, birds, buffaloes and, if you are lucky, leopards. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but Yala remains one of the most exciting safari experiences in Sri Lanka.
The final part of the tour brings you to Galle Fort, a beautiful coastal heritage city with Dutch colonial streets, ocean views, a lighthouse, cafes, shops and a calm walking atmosphere.

Day 2: Kandy to Ella
Tea Country Roads, Waterfalls and Mountain Scenery
After breakfast, continue from Kandy towards Ella. This is one of the most scenic parts of the tour, as the route takes you through Sri Lanka’s central highlands, tea country views, waterfalls, misty roads and mountain scenery.
Depending on your route and timing, you can enjoy stops near Ramboda, Nuwara Eliya or tea plantation areas. This part of Sri Lanka feels very different from the beach. The air becomes cooler, the hills become greener and the landscape becomes more peaceful.
Ella is one of the most loved destinations in Sri Lanka. It has a relaxed village atmosphere with waterfalls, mountain views, tea estates and scenic viewpoints. After arrival, you can enjoy light sightseeing or relax at your hotel depending on your travel pace.

Day 3: Ella Sightseeing and Yala
Bridges, Waterfalls and Safari Country
After breakfast, enjoy the highlights of Ella before travelling towards Yala or Tissamaharama. Ella is a beautiful place for soft adventure, photography and scenic sightseeing.
The day can begin with Nine Arch Bridge, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous landmarks. Surrounded by greenery and railway scenery, it is a favourite location for travelers who love photography. If your group enjoys walking, Little Adam’s Peak can also be included for a beautiful hill country viewpoint.
After Ella sightseeing, continue towards Yala. As you travel down from the hill country, the scenery changes again from green mountains to dry-zone landscapes and wildlife country. Depending on your preferred timing, the safari can be arranged in the afternoon on Day 3 or early morning on Day 4.

Day 4: Yala Safari, Galle Fort and Return to Ahungalla
Wildlife, Coastal Roads and Historic Galle
Start the day with a Yala safari if it was not done on Day 3. Yala National Park is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife destinations, known for elephants, deer, crocodiles, birds, buffaloes and possible leopard sightings. Wildlife moves freely in nature, so no sighting can be guaranteed, but the safari itself is an exciting natural experience.
After the safari and breakfast, begin the journey towards Galle. The route takes you back towards the south coast, passing local towns, coastal areas and ocean scenery depending on the road conditions and selected stops.
The final major highlight of the tour is Galle Fort. This historic coastal fort is one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful heritage destinations. You can walk along the ramparts, visit the lighthouse area, explore Dutch colonial streets, enjoy ocean views, browse small shops and relax at a cafe if time allows.
After visiting Galle Fort, continue back to Ahungalla or your nearby hotel area.

Recommended Tour Plans
Four suggested 4-day tour plans departing from Ahungalla covering Kandy, Ella, Yala and Galle.
Best Time For This Tour
This tour can be arranged throughout the year, but the experience may change depending on weather, road conditions and safari timing.
Kandy and Ella have cooler inland weather compared to Ahungalla. Ella may receive rain at different times of the year, so sightseeing may be adjusted based on conditions. Yala safari timing can be arranged in the morning or afternoon depending on your route and preference.
For this 4 day tour, early pickup on Day 1 is recommended. This gives enough time to travel to Kandy and begin the tour comfortably.
If you want to include Little Adam’s Peak, cooler morning hours are usually better. If weather is rainy or trails are slippery, we may suggest easier sightseeing instead.

This tour includes temples, hill country sightseeing, waterfalls, safari and walking inside Galle Fort, so comfortable clothing is important.
We suggest bringing:
- Comfortable clothing
- Walking shoes or comfortable sandals
- Light jacket for Kandy and Ella
- Shawl or cover-up for temple visits

- Sunglasses
